Corona Brașov Faces Red Star Belgrade in EHF European League Preliminary Round

Corona Brașov, currently ranked 9th in the “Liga Florilor”, is set to make its debut in the second preliminary round of the EHF European League, the second most prestigious competition after the Champions League. The Romanian team will host Red Star Belgrade at the multifunctional hall in Brașov, with the match commencing at 16:00. Fans can follow the action live on GSP.ro and on Digi Sport 1.

On the same day, Corona Brașov joins the European competition, following SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea, which secured a convincing 39-24 victory over Germany’s Tussies Metzingen in the first leg of their preliminary round matchup.

Corona Brașov kicks off their EHF European League preliminary journey at home this afternoon against the 4th placed team in Serbia’s domestic league.

Before facing Red Star, Corona has struggled with three losses and two draws in their last five matches, with their last victory dating back to August 22, where they edged SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea 25-24.

In contrast, Red Star Belgrade has clinched two victories in their last two league matches but faced two defeats in friendly encounters against Gyor and Podravka this summer.

In addition to Corona, Romania will have another representative in the third round of the EHF European League preliminaries: HC Dunărea Brăila, potentially bringing the total to three Romanian teams in the group stages of the competition.

The matches in the third round are scheduled for November 7-8 and November 14-15. The group stage will kick off on January 9-10, 2027, and conclude on February 20-21, with eight teams advancing to the EHF European League quarterfinals.
