The Lviv City Council has made a controversial decision to transfer a plot of land originally designated for orphaned children to a local medical college. This land, previously part of the Children’s Home No. 1 on Komarintsi Street, included a sports infrastructure developed for orphans, particularly those affected by the war in Eastern Ukraine.
Community advocate, who worked with supporters to establish a children’s sports field for these orphans years prior, expressed outrage at the council’s decision. “It is utterly unacceptable to deprive orphans, who have already lost so much, of their rightful resources,” they stated.
There is a strong call from both the football and media communities for the council to reconsider this decision. Advocates are urging members of the Lviv City and Regional Councils to intervene and take actions that prioritize the welfare of these vulnerable children.
