All personnel are safe following the recent attack on the main office of Kyivstar, a leading telecommunications company in Ukraine. The company is currently assessing the damage and coordinating its next steps.
This incident is not the first instance of Kyivstar’s buildings being damaged due to Russian offensives. On September 11, a drone strike hit the office of the operator’s engineering team. While the company has not disclosed the extent of the destruction or its impact on the engineering infrastructure, it has confirmed that the network continues to operate normally.
Context
- Russian forces have actively targeted the infrastructure of telecommunications companies. On September 25, a data center operated by Datagroup was struck, followed by attacks on Cosmonova’s data center, which led to a temporary halt of several television channel broadcasts. Residents of Kyiv and other parts of Ukraine have been warned about potential internet disruptions.
- Despite the attacks, Ukraine’s President’s advisor on technological defense, Serhii Beskrestnov, assured that the internet will not disappear completely, as the network possesses a distributed infrastructure.
