Health experts have stated there is no information about new or unknown viruses currently affecting Ukraine. According to infectious disease specialist Svitlana Fedorova, the common rhinovirus, identified over 70 years ago, is circulating in the country. Symptoms of this virus typically include a mild fever ranging from 37.1 to 37.5 degrees Celsius, which many patients may not even notice. Characteristic signs also include a runny nose and coughing.
Additionally, Fedorova noted that with the onset of ragweed season, there is a rise in allergic reactions, leading to a combination of rhinovirus infection and histamine release in affected individuals.
