Former President Donald Trump has indicated that he might meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin again. “We already had a meeting in Alaska. I think we will have another,” Trump stated.
The previous bilateral meeting between Trump and Putin took place in Anchorage in August 2025. While Trump did not specify the details of a potential new meeting, he mentioned that the illegitimate Russian leader would be open to a summit, contingent on the establishment of a peace agreement with Ukraine.
When asked if Putin would attend the upcoming G20 leaders’ summit, Trump remarked that he was uncertain. According to the Kremlin, this topic has not yet been discussed. Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed willingness to meet with Putin during the G20 summit in the U.S. if Putin decides to attend.
During a speech at the United Nations, Trump announced his belief in a swift resolution to the conflict in Ukraine, claiming it could end sooner than expected. He also mentioned his readiness to impose strong sanctions on Russia if necessary and conveyed a message to Putin urging an end to the war.

- On September 1, Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov commented to state propaganda outlet “Vesti” that Trump, Putin, and Chinese President Xi Jinping might hold a trilateral meeting at the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Shenzhen, China, scheduled for November 18-19. Ushakov stated that this possibility was discussed between Putin and Xi during talks on August 31.
