A judge from Odesa has recently stripped approximately 30 mothers of their parental rights and is now appealing these decisions. According to reports, Oleksandr Prysakary, a judge at the Izmail District Court, is also vying for a position at the Odesa Court of Appeal. He has been involved in multiple rulings that either terminate mothers’ parental rights or establish independent upbringing of children by their fathers.
The sheer number of these rulings raises concerns and necessitates a thorough review, especially in the context of the ongoing war, where such statuses can influence eligibility for military deferments under certain conditions. Questions have emerged regarding whether these judgments were leveraged to create grounds for men to avoid military service. It has been asserted that prior to any potential transfer of the judge to another position, the High Qualification Commission of Judges and the High Council of Justice must investigate the specific cases, circumstances, and consequences of these decisions.
