Cristi Tănase Discusses FCSB’s Challenges Ahead of Cup Match with FC Argeș

Cristi Tănase, a former player for both FC Argeș and FCSB, will officiate the kick-off for the match between the two teams tonight in Mioveni. The highly anticipated game is scheduled to start at 21:30, marking the opening round of the Romanian Cup group stages.

Prior to the match, Tănase reflected on the current state of both teams. Having played 82 matches for FC Argeș and 230 for FCSB, he expressed confidence in FCSB’s potential for recovery but emphasized the necessity for new players to replace those who have departed, including Florin Tănase and Daniel Bîrligea.

Cristi Tănase Analyzes FCSB’s Recent Performance

In a recent interview, Tănase acknowledged FCSB’s struggles, noting that the team’s issues seem to have originated from their unexpected loss to Auda in the Conference League. He remarked, “No one anticipated that result. I thought it was just an accident, but unfortunately, the struggles continued into the league.”

On the exits of Tănase and Bîrligea, he stated, “I honestly did not expect either of them to leave. They are valuable players and contributed significantly to the team’s performance. With their departures, it is crucial to bring in replacements quickly.”

Assessing whether this marks the end of a cycle for FCSB, Tănase suggested that management is contemplating the introduction of new talent to help the team overcome its current difficulties.

Despite the challenges, Tănase believes FCSB still has the quality to compete for the title: “Steaua is still a favorite. They possess a talented squad, and there are high expectations for performance. The leadership knows what to do, particularly MM Stoica, who understands how to manage the situation effectively.”

In closing, Tănase mentioned that he remains in contact with some of the old staff and players, noting that they share concerns about the team’s current form.

“Dinamo has good players, but I believe Steaua is the favorite. It will be an enjoyable match for the fans.” – Cristi Tănase
