Fedorov Offers to Help US Create Drone Army in Exchange for Patriot Missiles

Ukrainian defense official Oleksii Fedorov has expressed willingness to assist the United States in developing a “drone army” in exchange for Patriot missile interceptors. In a conversation with Financial Times, Fedorov outlined a proposal that aims to bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities during the harsh winter months while facing continuous attacks from Russia, including the use of ballistic missiles.
Fedorov, who is currently seeking investments to establish a new defense technology fund, emphasized that this initiative is intended not only to finance Ukrainian startups but also to launch companies dedicated to innovative military solutions. Key areas of focus include combat robotics to reduce reliance on manpower, affordable high-speed interceptors to counter new Russian drone strikes, and low-cost, AI-supported missiles.
He predicts that the conflict with Russia could drag on for another two to three years, and the fund aims to develop cutting-edge battlefield solutions while providing investors with insights gained from Ukraine’s experiences.
Additionally, Fedorov commented on his recent appointment as an innovation advisor to Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, which has generated significant interest in Ukraine. He noted that assisting Italy with its innovations might pave the way for closer collaboration, particularly in air defense capabilities that Ukraine currently lacks. Fedorov is also exploring similar advisory roles in other allied nations, possibly including France and the US.
While Fedorov declined to confirm any meetings with the Trump administration in Washington, he reiterated his eagerness to help the US establish its drone army, emphasizing his readiness to facilitate this exchange of technology for military equipment.
In a message shared via Telegram, Fedorov highlighted his mission to attract international capital and expertise to create new technologies that will enable Ukraine to outpace its adversary in future technological developments.
