Yandex Implements New Method to Conceal Military Assets in Russia

A concealed missile battery is located near the naval city of Kronstadt, close to St. Petersburg’s coast.
Previously, Yandex primarily attempted to obscure military sites by blurring details in satellite imagery.
Now, according to reports, Yandex Maps has overlaid an image of a forest on the missile battery using graphic editing software.
In contrast, the same missile division remains clearly visible on Western online services, including satellite maps from Google, Apple, and Microsoft.
The area hidden by Yandex previously housed Bastion anti-ship missiles along with associated radar and electronic reconnaissance systems, according to media reports.
The equipment was last visible in satellite images in April, but it has since disappeared from more recent photos. The publication speculates that the equipment may have been relocated for training or moved into covered hangars.
