Rapid’s Victor Angelescu Confirms New Signing Chec Doumbia

Victor Angelescu, the president and minority shareholder of Rapid, expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance in the second half against UTA Arad, suggesting they might have deserved to win after missed opportunities by Petrila and Moruțan. Despite dropping points, he noted the team’s overall improvement, particularly in the second half.
Angelescu also confirmed the signing of Chec Doumbia as the new midfielder for Rapid. At just 19 years old, Doumbia is praised for his skill, which Angelescu claims surpasses the level of Romanian first-tier football.
Angelescu: “We Deserved to Leave with All Three Points”
“In the first half, UTA had two significant chances. In the second, we created our own opportunities, including two from Petrila and one from Moruțan. We played significantly better in the second half and perhaps deserved to leave with all three points,” Angelescu stated.
He emphasized the importance of strong performances to secure a playoff spot, noting that they aim to accumulate more points. Angelescu mentioned ongoing discussions with Genoa regarding player agreements, stating that it may take two to three weeks for final confirmations. He highlighted Doumbia’s potential impact on the team, referencing his height and past loan experiences, indicating he will play a vital role moving forward.
