During a recent press interaction, former President Donald Trump was questioned about the potential for the U.S. to provide Ukraine with additional Patriot missile batteries or missiles. Trump stated, “We also need missiles. When I left office, we had plenty of ammunition, but [current President Joe] Biden has given Ukraine $300 billion in ammunition. We are now replenishing our stockpiles.”
He elaborated that the U.S. is currently producing “very powerful” munitions and has arms reserves in various countries that could be utilized if necessary.
However, Trump did not directly answer whether the U.S. is prepared to supply Ukraine with more missiles or Patriot systems.
Regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Trump remarked that approximately 25,000 people, mostly military personnel, are dying each month. He expressed that Washington is working towards ending the war, noting some progress, although he described the situation as “very brutal” and highlighted the significant animosity between leaders of Ukraine and Russia.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky indicated that since the beginning of 2026, Ukraine has been receiving about three times fewer anti-ballistic missiles compared to previous periods. He mentioned that U.S. and European partners had cited the conflict in the Middle East as an official reason for the reduction in supplies, but he suspected that political motives might also be at play to ensure Ukraine is more compliant.

- On July 8, during a press conference with Zelensky in Ankara, Trump mentioned that the United States could grant Ukraine a license to produce missiles for the Patriot system. However, in a July 30 interview with the Financial Times, he noted that “this is absolutely exceptional weaponry,” indicating that the U.S. must be “a little more cautious” about whom they issue such licenses to.
