Cristi Chivu and Nicolo Barella Engage Before Manchester City Friendly

Cristi Chivu, the 45-year-old coach of Inter Milan, and midfielder Nicolo Barella made a notable appearance on Friday evening, visiting the BYD stand located near the Hong Kong Stadium. This visit precedes Inter’s second summer test against Manchester City, scheduled for Saturday noon.

The duo was photographed next to a custom Benza D5 model adorned in Inter’s club colors, as well as alongside a special team jersey featuring the sponsor’s name and the number 1.

This event took place just a day before Inter faces Manchester City at the Hong Kong Stadium, with kickoff set for 2:30 PM on August 1. This match represents the first significant challenge for Chivu’s squad during their preparation, following a previous friendly against Karlsruher SC, which they won 2-1.

Cristi Chivu Poses with Special BYD Model in Hong Kong

Shortly after Chivu and Barella’s appearance at the BYD stand, Inter shared a message on social media accompanied by several pictures stating, “From Milan to Hong Kong, it’s always a pleasure, BYD.” BYD serves as a sponsor for both Inter and Manchester City. Additionally, starting in 2025, the Chinese automaker will become the Global Auto Partner for the Italian club under a three-year agreement lasting until the end of the 2027-2028 season.

“This partnership unites two organizations driven by common values. Football has evolved, and clubs have become enterprises striving for sustainability, just like BYD. Both of our organizations share core values: a strong sense of identity, a deeply rooted work ethic, ambition to win, and a continuous pursuit of excellence. BYD is a global leader in electric mobility.

We are among the leaders in world football and intend to remain so. Therefore, we seek a partner that can grow alongside us, in alignment with our values. This union between two ambitious organizations will undoubtedly lead to mutual growth for both brands,” said Inter president Giuseppe Marotta at the time the partnership was signed.

So far, the Italian team has undergone a training camp in Germany, where they achieved victory against Karlsruher SC. The Serie A champions will kick off their new season at home against Monza on August 22. Until then, they have three more friendly matches lined up against formidable opponents: Manchester City, AC Milan, and Juventus.
