Ukrainian presidential advisor, Flash, has revealed a significant development regarding the Russian Gerbera drones, stating that they are now capable of being controlled using the Molniya system. Previously, both mesh modems on Molniya and Gerbera drones operated on the same frequency band from a single Chinese manufacturer, but they were incompatible due to licensing restrictions. This is no longer the case, according to reports.
“Today we have the first instance of controlling Molniya drones through Gerbera,” Flash noted. He labeled this modification as anticipated and urged Ukrainians to take note of this change.
He added, “It is likely that this method will become widespread. If necessary, we can disable the Gerbera, and the Molniya drones will fall on their own.”
Russian forces have been actively modifying their unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Earlier this year, in February, Beskrystnov reported that the occupiers had initiated the use of Gerbera drones as carriers for FPV drones. In May, he indicated that FPV drones armed with Gerbera payloads began to be deployed throughout Ukraine.

- The Russian military extensively utilizes Gerbera drones to overwhelm Ukrainian air defenses. These drones are assembled in Yelabuga, Republic of Tatarstan, as reported by Ukraine’s Military Intelligence Directorate. Constructed from plywood and foam, they are significantly cheaper than the Shahed drones. Additionally, some components used in these drones are sourced from foreign manufacturers, as noted by the intelligence agency.
