Dinamo Considers Terminating Contract with George Pușcaș Amid Recovery

George Pușcaș, aged 30, is currently facing a challenging period at Dinamo as he continues to recover from an inguinal hernia surgery performed in early June in London. His future with the Romanian club remains uncertain.
The Romanian international is expected to return to the field at the beginning of September; however, he risks losing his position on the team. Reports indicate that Dinamo is considering terminating his contract.
Dinamo Evaluates Split from George Pușcaș
The situation is primarily linked to his current contract, which is set to expire in the summer of 2027. The club’s management aims to extend it for another season. Nevertheless, Pușcaș has not accepted the initial proposal from the club, leading officials to worry that he might enter the final six months of his contract and be eligible to sign with another team for free.
Weeks ago, Dinamo president Andrei Nicolescu announced intentions to negotiate a contract extension with Pușcaș.
Club Aims to Avoid Repeat of Past Contract Issues
Dinamo’s management is keen to avoid repeating scenarios like those with players Josue Homawoo and Kennedy Boateng, both of whom rejected extension offers, saw their contracts expire, and left the club as free agents.
Consequently, officials are contemplating an early split from George Pușcaș if contract negotiations do not yield a favorable outcome.
Limited Appearances for Dinamo
Since transferring in February as a free agent, Pușcaș has struggled with consistency due to medical issues. In nearly five months with Dinamo, he has only made eight appearances, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
As per Transfermarkt, Pușcaș’s market value stands at €750,000. Currently, Dinamo’s attacking lineup also includes Mamadou Karamoko, Oliver Hintsa, Alexandru Pop, and Vadym Kyrychenko.
Pușcaș’s monthly salary is €20,000, an increase from the €15,000 he initially accepted when signing with the club.
“It takes time because, at first, training won’t match the team’s level. There will be an integration process. He won’t be at 100% at the start of the season, but hopefully, he will be ready in August.” – Andrei Nicolescu, Dinamo President, June 28
