U Cluj President Discusses Player Interest After Europa League Draw

Radu Constantea, the president of U Cluj, shared his thoughts following the team’s recent 0-0 draw against Dinamo Kiev in their first Europa League match of the season. He commended the players for their performance in Lublin and addressed potential transfer activities.

Constantea mentioned that scouts were present to observe Andrei Coubiș, emphasizing the importance of retaining key players like Jovo Lukic.
“We have two or three positions we are scouting for new players, although we have lost some targets to other teams. The transfer window is still open, so we are looking to add to our squad,” he stated.

Regarding Lukic, he noted that there have been offers, but the club is not pressuring to sell any players. “We want him to stay with us; we are financially stable and not obligated to sell. If a suitable offer comes along that benefits both the club and the player, we can discuss it. Right now, Lukic needs some time off to recover, but we are hopeful he can play in the upcoming matches,” he added.

Constantea reiterated his stance on the transfer market, indicating that while there is interest in Coubiș, the club ideally wants to retain their top talents. “It would be best if we didn’t have to sell anyone. Today, scouts were watching Coubiș at the game,” he remarked during the Digi Sport Special program.

He also expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance against a formidable opponent like Dinamo Kiev, stating, “We expected them to dominate possession, but we managed to create some opportunities ourselves. Despite not having Lukic, we adapted and played defensively. A 0-0 draw gives us a fighting chance for the return match. Dinamo Kiev remains the favorite, but we approach the next game with optimism.” Constantea acknowledged the team’s growth in European competitions, despite limited financial resources, showcasing their determination to improve each season.
