Drone Strikes Ignite Oil Storage Facilities in Stavropol Region

On the night of July 9, residents of the Stavropol region reported explosions, initially linked to a fire at the “Lukoil-Yugnefteprodukt” oil refinery in nearby Mikhailovsk. However, it was later clarified that the blaze occurred at an oil storage facility located 1.3 kilometers away in V’yazniki.

This facility serves as a large rear hub for the acceptance, storage, transshipment, and shipment of light petroleum products, including various grades of diesel fuel and gasoline. It comprises a tank farm with a loading rack and technological infrastructure.

Stavropol Governor Vladimir Vladimirov confirmed the attack on the region and the ensuing fire at the industrial site in V’yazniki. Due to the intense blaze triggered by drone strikes, evacuation measures were enacted in the area.

“The fire at the facility in V’yazniki has intensified. The flames have reached tanks containing flammable materials. Additional firefighting units are being dispatched to the scene,” the governor reported.

Videos depicting the fire were shared on social media by the monitoring Telegram channel Exilenova+.

In Tver, drones also targeted the “Tvernefteprodukt” oil storage facility located north of Moscow, according to Astra. Social media footage showed significant fire damage at the site.

The company manages the acceptance, storage, and release of light petroleum products, servicing a network of 52 gas stations and wholesale supplies in the Tver region.

The attack on the oil depot was further confirmed by regional head Vitaly Korolev, who stated that a “fire broke out in one of the tanks.” He noted that firefighters have “localized” the outbreak and are working to manage the aftermath of the “incident.”
