Budanov Discusses Ukrainian Forces’ Plans and Appeals to Crimean Residents

Budanov emphasizes that power outages and fuel shortages in Crimea are aimed at the return of the peninsula

Ukrainian military leader Kyrylo Budanov has addressed the social challenges faced by residents in Crimea, including fuel shortages and power outages, stating that these inconveniences are part of a larger goal—the return of the peninsula to Ukraine. Budanov emphasized that the situation, although difficult, is necessary for a significant cause.

He outlined that the primary objective of the Ukrainian defense forces is to sever the logistical lines in southern Ukraine, as these routes are essential for supplying Russian forces in Crimea. “This is being done with significant effectiveness,” Budanov remarked.

Contextually, Ukrainian forces have intensified attacks on Russian military targets in Crimea, disrupting their logistics and fuel supply chains. As a result, Russia has implemented restrictions on gasoline sales in the region. Additionally, Ukrainian UAV Commander Robert Brovdi noted in a June interview with Reuters that an isolation of Crimea is anticipated in the near future.

Brovdi also reported that on July 5, Ukrainian forces had targeted 16 energy nodes in Crimea within just two days, further straining the region’s infrastructure.
