Ancelotti Praises Japan Ahead of Brazil Match, Discusses Neymar’s Fitness

Carlo Ancelotti, the head coach of Brazil, expressed admiration for Japan, who previously defeated the South American team 3-2 in a friendly match in October. Ahead of their knockout game today at 20:00, Ancelotti denied any claims that Brazil is in an easier section of the tournament bracket and addressed Neymar’s physical condition.
Having topped their group, Brazil is gearing up for their first knockout match in the World Cup. Ancelotti showed confidence in his team while emphasizing the respect he holds for their opponents.
Ancelotti on the Challenge of Japan
“This is a decisive match. There is no second chance. Brazil is fortunate to have many experienced players in this regard. The team possesses great wisdom for such duels, so I am very confident,” Ancelotti stated.
He noted that the October friendly provided valuable insight into Japan’s competitiveness, especially considering they also defeated England in March. “We respect them fully, and we are treating this match like a final because that is exactly what it is,” he added.
Despite recognizing Japan’s strengths, Ancelotti stressed the need for Brazil to perform well: “Japan beat us in October and had a very strong second half. We must keep this in mind and show them the respect they deserve. Every match is very challenging, and we have a lot to consider. The pressure is high, and we need to focus on each duel. If we don’t perform well tomorrow, we go home. I remain convinced that there is no clear favorite at this point in the tournament.”
Ancelotti also updated the media on Neymar’s health, stating, “Neymar is recovering very well. I believe he has improved significantly over the past week. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to train fully with us. It’s clear he can play more than 15 minutes; it largely depends on the context of tomorrow’s match.”
