Ukrainian Forces Raise Flag on Kinburn Spit After Successful Operations

Ukrainian defense forces successfully raised the national flag on Kinburn Spit after compelling occupying forces to retreat from their positions. Reports indicate that this retreat was precipitated by intense firepower, which also facilitated the evacuation of surviving personnel from the area.
Footage released shows the flag being planted amid the ruins of a structure, set to the backdrop of the song “One Day Our Tanks Will Reach Dzhankoy.” The Southern Defense Forces noted in their post that they are determined to advance towards their goals.
According to a publication by the outlet “GORDON” on June 11, drone strikes by Ukrainian forces had previously disrupted the logistics of the occupiers on Kinburn Spit, leading to troop movements initially perceived as a withdrawal. However, subsequent reports from Ukrainian intelligence indicated that a full retreat of the occupation forces had not been confirmed, though they did note the relocation of Russian troops.
Retired Major Oleksiy Hetman informed that the gradual movement of the Russian army from Kinburn Spit is a direct result of Ukraine’s asymmetric warfare strategy, which methodically undermines the supply lines of the aggressor’s army in the south. He highlighted that the increasingly difficult logistics for the occupiers have turned the strategically significant spit, essential for targeting Mykolaiv region and routes to Kherson, into a liability.
The liberation of this territory from Russian forces would allow Ukraine to declare the complete de-occupation of the Mykolaiv region, as reported by France24. This would also demonstrate the increasing capabilities of Ukrainian forces to strike at medium-range and force the enemy to retreat without direct confrontations, as noted by Norwegian military expert Tor Bukkvoll.
