US Calls on Russia to Negotiate Peace as Military Losses Mount

A US representative emphasized the urgent need for Russia to return to negotiations. “As clearly stated by President Trump during last week’s G7 summit, Russia must reach an agreement. Time is not on Moscow’s side,” the official declared.
He pointed out that the Russian military is losing approximately 40,000 personnel each month and that the country’s economy is facing serious challenges. In contrast, Ukraine is rapidly adopting innovations.
“Diplomacy and negotiation, rather than further bloodshed, is the only answer. Nothing else will stop these senseless killings. This war has gone on for too long, and it must end,” he urged.
The diplomat also noted the United States’ support for the Ukrainian people, who are suffering from attacks that damage critical infrastructure and cultural heritage, specifically mentioning the recent strike on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
“Enough is enough. It is time for an immediate ceasefire. Now is the time for Russia and Ukraine to return to the negotiating table and forge a peace agreement,” the US representative concluded.
Context
- Since December 2025, the Russian army has been losing initiative on the battlefield, stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in late May.
- Ukraine has also intensified its “long-range sanctions” against Russia. On the night of June 18, Moscow faced its most extensive drone attack since the onset of the war, targeting the Moscow Oil Refinery located just 15 km from the Kremlin.
