How to pay the Giurgiu-Ruse bridge toll online in 2026?

The announcement was made by Cristian Pistol, the director of CNAIR, who says that cars will be able to pay the toll three minutes before crossing.

In order to be officially put into operation on June 15, 2026, the publication of the Order of the Minister of Transport in the Official Gazette is expected. The eTarifGiurgiuPod (eTGP) system represents a modern solution for the management of the toll of the bridge over the Danube in the direction of Giurgiu-Ruse, based on a configuration with two dedicated lanes in the prepaid mode, integrated with an IT platform available both on the WEB and via mobile application.

At the time of crossing through the dedicated eTGP lanes within the Giurgiu Control and Collection Agency, the system automatically verifies the existence of a payment made at least 3 minutes prior to access to the control area, thus ensuring the instant opening of the barrier in high-speed mode“, writes Cristian Pistol on the CNAIR Facebook page.

He stated that in the initial phase, the system is implemented for cars, and later it will be extended for other categories of vehicles, including heavy goods vehicles.

Benefits anticipated by CNAIR representatives include:

• significant streamlining of road traffic in the charging area,

• increasing the processing capacity of vehicles,

• reducing human intervention,

• improving user experience through a fast and efficient payment and access process.

“The eTarifGiurgiuPod system contributes to the digitization and efficiency of toll collection processes, aligning with modern mobility and smart infrastructure standards“, the post also states.
