What does Ilie Bolojan say about a new nomination for the position of prime minister if the Tomac Government does not pass

PNL President Ilie Bolojan said on Friday that the party will participate in a new round of consultations at the Cotroceni Palace, if necessary. At the same time, Bolojan was asked, in an interview for Radio Romania Actualitătă, about the possibility that, at a new round of consultations with the president for the formation of the Government, the PNL will also propose him for the position of prime minister, notes News.ro.
The liberal leader responded that “the best formula is to return to political realities”, arguing that the PSD, as the largest party in Parliament and the formation that “generated the political crisis”, should reclaim the position of prime minister.
“From my point of view, in a complicated situation in which we find ourselves, I think that the best formula is to return to the political realities and to the principles for which democracy is the best form of government. We have a party that generated the political crisis, which is the largest party in the Parliament and under normal conditions should claim the position of prime minister. Of course, Mr. President can entrust PSD with this mandate or not, under the conditions in which he entrusts and does not pass, if it passes, things are closed”, said Ilie Bolojan.
Asked if the hypothesis that he is also proposed for the position of prime minister is taken into account, the PNL leader replied that a decision regarding the name proposed to the president for the head of the Government will be taken in the PNL leadership forums.
“If such a hypothesis were to happen, then the PNL, just as it did not run away from responsibility last summer, we will come up with a solution, but I cannot now come up with details because the solution proposed by a party is the result of a decision by the leadership office, the leadership forum of that party and the PNL, in such a situation where this government will not pass, will participate in the consultations, if Mr. President will do them again, and we will seek to come with a solution”, replied Ilie Bolojan.
He added that the party tries not to create expectations it cannot meet and make promises it cannot keep.
Asked if President Nicusor Dan called him to ask the PNL to support the Tomac Government, Bolojan answered: “There was no discussion immediately before the PNL decision or after the PNL decision.”
