Many people are faced with the problem of a musty smell and a gray coating on the rubber band of their washing machine. Over time, even regular washing with expensive powders does not always help get rid of this problem. But there is a simple and effective way to clean your drum using just one ingredient: baking soda.
To begin, pour half a cup of baking soda directly into the empty drum of the machine. Then select the highest temperature cotton cycle, usually sixty or ninety degrees, and run the cycle without any laundry. Leave the machine running so that the hot water completely dissolves the powder and washes all internal components.
After the cycle is complete, take a damp cloth and thoroughly wipe the rubber seal of the hatch, where mucus and small debris most often accumulate. If the stains are particularly persistent or the smell does not go away the first time, the procedure can be repeated or additionally wipe the parts with a weak solution of vinegar. As a result, your washing machine will work quietly and efficiently again, and the unpleasant musty smell will disappear forever, replaced by light cleanliness.
