An 18-year-old tourist from Ukraine was attacked by a bear on Monday while she was on Transfăgărăşan, reports News.ro. The young woman, who suffered a bite wound on one leg, was picked up by a SMURD crew and taken to the hospital.
The incident took place during the evening, around 6:30 p.m., within the radius of the Arefu town in Argeş.
The first to intervene were the mountain gendarmes. They gave the woman first aid, and because she did not speak English, the gendarmes were unable to find out from her exactly how the incident happened.
Shortly after, a SMURD crew arrived in the area and found that the tourist had bite wounds on her right leg.
The 18-year-old woman was picked up and taken to the hospital, being conscious and cooperative.
