Ex-player of the Israeli Maccabi club, 50-year-old Liron Basis, is accused of fraud amounting to €26 million. The Presnensky Court of Moscow arrested him for 40 days at the request of Germany.
Basis came to Russia from Georgia. On May 29, law enforcement officers took him. According to the Dresden prosecutor's office, Basis is involved in 33 episodes of fraud totaling 26 million euros. The former footballer was allegedly part of a gang of scammers.
At the meeting he said: this is not so, I am not guilty of anything. He complained that in the Russian pre-trial detention center he was not fed kosher. Because of this, he was forced to eat only black bread and drink tea. In the future, the Maccabi legend will be given to Germany.
Liron is charged under the article “Commercial group fraud.” The department declined to provide details.
