On Sunday evening, big names from football and sports participated in the charity event “In memoriam Ioan Alexandru Ganea”, a football match played in Făgăraș in memory of the late son of Ionel Ganea, who died a year ago.

The “Alexandru Ganea” association, founded by the former international great in memory of his son who died on June 6, 2025, organized a demonstration match today that gathered around 3,000 people at the Municipal stadium in Făgăraș, the city where Ionel Ganea was born.

Among them, Ionuț Lupescu. “If Ionel needed us, it is important that we are here. We see that the stadium is full, a lot of people came. I am glad that his charity action is successful, I hope it will continue to be”, he said in a dialogue with the GSP.ro reporter.

The match ended with the victory of the Brașov national team, 7-6, the decisive goal coming towards the end of the game. Ionel Ganea's other son, George, also signed up.
