Romania is in first place in group 5 of League 3, accumulating 10 points until the end. Cyprus has only one point, and the Republic of Moldova has two after the draw with Romania and the draw with Cyprus.
Romania, equal to the Republic of Moldova
This last match of the women's national team was one without stakes, Romania already being the winner of the group since April, after the victory against Cyprus, obtained at the Arc de Triumf stadium, score 3-0.
Therefore, the match from the Republic of Moldova ended in a tie, score 0-0. Romania benefited from a penalty, but the striker from Gloria Bistrița, Mihaela Ciolacu, missed the penalty kick.
Moldova and Cyprus have only one more game to play in this group, the second leg of the direct match. And this duel is without stakes, after both teams lost their chances for the World Cup.
Following these results, in addition to a hope for the World Cup, Romania also promoted to League B, from League C, for the next edition of the League of Nations.
Romania, two more hurdles until the World Cup
After the end of the last match in the group stage, the Romanian national team will continue its journey towards qualifying for the 2027 World Cup through two playoffs. In the first bracket, the women's national team will meet one of the teams ranked second or third in one of the A League groups, with the opponent to be determined following a draw.
In the event that Romania wins this round, it will go to the World Championship play-off final. The stake of the confrontation will be to get a place in the final tournament, and the opponent will be another team that will manage to overcome the first stage of the barrage. And this duel will be decided by lot.
If Romania wins, then it will go to the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Brazil, between June 24 and July 25, 2027.
