On the night of June 3, Iran launched several missiles towards the Persian Gulf countries. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced this on social network X.
According to the US military, they were able to intercept several Iranian ballistic missiles and drones, as well as carry out self-defense strikes against the Iranian military ground control station on Qeshm Island.
“Iran launched several ballistic missiles towards its regional neighbors, but none of them reached their targets. Two Iranian missiles fired at Kuwait missed their target or crashed en route, and three missiles launched at Bahrain were immediately intercepted by US and Bahrain air defense forces,” the report said.
CENTCOM forces also reportedly shot down three unilateral drones that Iran launched toward civilian sailors lawfully passing through regional waters.
“No U.S. personnel were harmed. CENTCOM forces remain vigilant and ready to defend against unjustified Iranian aggression during the current truce,” the U.S. military command said.
The US later reported an additional wave of Iranian drones attempting to attack US forces in Kuwait.
Reuters, citing Iranian state media, wrote that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) attacked the headquarters of the US 5th Fleet in Bahrain and an air base with helicopters in one of the countries in the region. Tehran said the drone and missile strikes were in response to a US attack on a communications tower south of Qeshm. CENTCOM denies attack on American targets.
At the same time, the US Central Command reported that on the eve of the Iranian attacks, the US military disabled an oil tanker that was moving towards an Iranian port in the Persian Gulf. The ship's crew ignored repeated warnings, failing to follow instructions from American troops several times during the day, after which an American plane fired a missile into the ship's engine room.
