The French Minister of the Interior, Laurent Nuñez, said that 57 officers were injured in the clashes that took place in the streets, most of them suffering minor injuries.
In a press conference on Sunday, the official said the situation was largely under control.
“Most of the festivities were peaceful” in the French capital, said Nuñez, who noted that most of the incidents took place in the Champs-Élysées district and near the Parc des Princes stadium in western Paris, where fans had gathered to watch the match in Budapest.
According to the minister, police intervened five times overnight to prevent people from blocking traffic on the main ring road around Paris.
