Lieutenant General Vadim Shamarin, who was arrested in the case of taking a bribe…

Lieutenant General Vadim Shamarin, who was arrested in the case of receiving a bribe on an especially large scale, is now appealing the preventive measure – he asked to recognize his stay in the pre-trial detention center as illegal and to let him go home.
The lawyer stated that Shamarin has a disabled wife, two children (one minor) and no criminal record, which means he should be transferred to house arrest. The military man did not agree with the accusations – he said that their severity was not justified. He added that he is not going to put pressure on witnesses and is fully ready to cooperate with the investigation.
According to investigators, Shamarin received a bribe of 36 million rubles from the general director and chief accountant of the Perm Telephone Plant Telta. For this, he was supposed to increase the volume of purchases of the company’s products with money from the Ministry of Defense.
Shamarin was detained on May 22. During searches in his house, security forces found two million rubles in cash.
UPD. Shamarin was left in pre-trial detention.
