According to records and a phone call obtained by the Law&Crime Network, an unidentified witness reportedly told investigators that she and members of the US Space Force had dinner with McCasland at a restaurant in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the evening before his disappearance on February 27.

McCasland, a retired major general, has been associated throughout his career with nuclear research programs and classified aerospace initiatives, some of which have been publicly linked by UFO theorists.

According to the same account, the meeting would have taken place at around 18:00. The witness allegedly claimed to have worked with McCasland at the Kirtland Partnership, a non-profit organization linked to Kirtland Air Force Base.

Officially, the role of the US Space Force is to support military operations in space and protect US satellite infrastructure, but it also includes activities to monitor unidentified space objects in the context of national security.

What the witnesses say

In discussions with police, his wife, Susan Wilkerson, described the disappearance as unexpected. She said McCasland had recently started a prescription medication to improve sleep and manage symptoms associated with possible cognitive problems.

“That morning he took a medication prescribed the night before. He said he slept better but felt like he had a bad hangover, confused and had no energy.” appears in her statement played in the video.

Wilkerson also stated that the former general was experiencing unexplained weight loss and anxiety, and was being medically evaluated for physical and mental difficulties. She also allegedly told 911 operators that he feared his “cognitive functions were deteriorating.”

McCasland was last seen leaving his home with no phone, no electronic devices and no identification. According to the family, he only took a pair of boots and a .38 caliber gun. He has not been seen since.

Separately, another witness claimed to police that while meeting with him and people associated with Space Force, his demeanor appeared to change, describing him as “quiet and absent”.

His disappearance fueled speculation in some US public and political circles about his involvement in classified programs. Some statements by congressmen and former officials have referred to his alleged involvement in sensitive research, including in the field of unconventional aerospace technologies, allegations that authorities have not confirmed.

McCasland previously headed the Air Force Research Laboratory and was associated with Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico as well as Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, two locations frequently mentioned in American popular culture in connection with theories about unidentified aerial phenomena, although officially they are defense research and test centers.

Police records also show that neighbors of the family, including a former subordinate of the general, described him as an extremely rigorous and highly intelligent professional, stressing that his disappearance without warning seemed unusual to them.

New Mexico authorities have so far indicated no evidence of a possible criminal act. The search continues and the case remains open.
