Eduard Florescu, 28, a midfielder at Hermannstadt starting in 2026, after starting the championship at Slobozia, suffered one of the worst injuries seen in the Super League this year, a cruciate ligament tear that prematurely ended his season on May 11. Trouble came in a match with Metaloglobusin the 30th minute, following a seemingly trivial duel with an opponent.
The footballer from Pitesti, quoted at 450,000 euros on Transfermarkt, had become one of Dorinel Munteanu's key players. He debuted with a goal in a match with Farul, on January 17, then became a constant appearance in the first “11” of the Sibiu.

His season took a terrible turn in the play-out match with Metaloglobus at the end of a regular phase of the game. His left knee bent at an unnatural angle after trying to dispossess Robert Neacșu, then collapsed on the lawn screaming in pain. The replays were hard to watch and his season was already over!
After undergoing surgery on his left knee, Eduard Florescu spoke to GSP.ro about his medical situation.
“It's been a week since the operation today, I had torn cruciate ligaments. I'm trying to be strong, it's the first injury in my life. It was really bad luck, but it had to be, I can't turn back time. I had surgery at Dr. Ion Codorean.
I have not received a deadline for returning to the field, everything is up to me.
A lot of things go through your head at times like this, not very good thingsbut you have to be strong mentally.
I was in a lot of pain the first few days, but now I'm getting better. I was advised not to step on my foot for three weeks”, said Eduard Florescu, in a dialogue with GSP.ro.

From home, where he meticulously plans his recovery, the midfielder keeps his fists to his teammates, who won the first leg of the “barrage” with FC Voluntari, score 3-2. The return is scheduled for the weekend.
“I've had a hard time with this championship final… It's very difficult to watch. It's been a very difficult season, but I trust the boys to give it their all in this last game and we'll save this year.”
Florescu still has a contract with the Sibiu until the summer of 2027.
Last season, before returning to the Super League, Florescu had an adventure in Kazakhstan: “It was a short experience. I personally decided to stop, because the championship did not suit my style”, said Florescu, in an interview for Gazeta.
