Two Krasnoyarsk residents aged 40 and 43 will go to trial for stealing goods from a hypermarket.
It was established that the attackers came up with and implemented a plan to cheaply buy towels costing almost 1,000 rubles each – they punched them at the self-service checkout for the price of vegetables.
“In April last year, the accused came to the store to buy textiles. One of them went to the vegetable counter and weighed 20 rubles worth of onions. They then taped the label to the towels and scanned the onion's name barcode twice. Instead of 1.9 thousand rubles, the friends paid only 40 rubles. Thinking that the scheme worked flawlessly, they decided to repeat the success – on the same day they already took three towels from the same store, but this time they liked the potatoes – the men weighed it for 33 rubles. In total, the comrades paid 99 rubles for three towels at the self-service checkout,” the police said.
After the second crime, the men were stopped by security guards at the exit from the store and handed over to law enforcement officers. A criminal case was opened and investigated against previously unconvicted friends under Part 2 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Theft committed bya group of people prior agreement.” Before the verdict was announced, they were given a preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave the place and proper behavior.
