Julian Nagelsmann, the Germany coach, has announced the squad for this summer's World Cup. Manuel Neuer (40 years old) returned to the national team, two years after retiring from Die Mannschaft.

Manuel Neuer is back, two years after retiring from the German national team

The Bayern Munich goalkeeper had declared in April that he would not go back on his decision to retire from the national team, saying that the choice “is nailed down”.

However, Neuer is in Julian Nagelsmann's squad. The captain of Bayern Munich will play in the 5th World Cup of his career. He won the ultimate trophy in 2014, the year he finished 3rd in the Ballon d'Or behind Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Except for Sane and Rudiger, only Bundesliga and Premier League players

The German coach called on players from 4 leagues: La Liga, Super Lig, Bundesliga and Premier League. Galatasaray's Leroy Sane and Real Madrid's Rudiger are the only ones not playing for Germany or England at club level.

Otherwise, Nagelsmann called up players from Bayern, Hoffenheim, Stuttgart, Dortmund, Leipzig, Mainz, Frankfurt, Liverpool, Brighton and Newcastle.
