The Sever-750 airboat, with 18 people on board, capsized near the Turtle rock on Lake Baikal, IrkutskMedia reports.
Thirteen people were able to escape, five died. One of the rescued women received a laceration to her leg and was hospitalized. The preliminary cause of the airboat capsizing was overload. According to the technical specifications on the manufacturer’s website, this model is designed for a maximum of ten people. A criminal case has been initiated under the article on the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements.
