Ciprian Ciucu: “PSD, in their characteristic style, coward, give and run.” The solution he sees to the political crisis
PNL First Vice-President Ciprian Ciucu stated, on Digi24, that President Nicușor Dan should entrust the mandate for the formation of the future government to Sorin Grindeanu, including in the case of a PSD-AUR coalition, which the liberal stated is already functioning in Parliament.
Referring to the consultations in Cotroceni, Ciprian Ciucu said that the president asked the members of the PNL delegation what they thought of the version of a government with a technocrat prime minister.
“I said it's stupid because a government with a technocrat prime minister, controlled by PSD ministers, I've seen this movie before. We don't trust such a formula supported by the PNL,” said Ciucu.
The liberal said that Sorin Grindeanu should be tasked with forming the government in a PSD-AUR alliance
“They demonstrated earlier that they have the ability to form a majority coalition to bring down a government. Let them no longer run away from responsibility. In their characteristic cowardly style, they give and run. That's what they did now, and the PSD must be exposed,” declared the first vice-president of the PNL.

Unlike President Nicușor Dan, Ciucu believes that such a government could be functional.
“It's good for democracy. AUR is a parliamentary, constitutional party. The PSD-AUR majority goes like oiled in the Parliament. Moreover, the colleagues in the Parliament tell me that there is a chemistry between them, and their actions show a strong coordination. Good people, take responsibility! There would be a PSD that would pass its correct projects for SAFE, PNRR and OECD with the PNL and USR votes, and the other messes they will do with the AUR”, estimated the capital's mayor.
Referring to Sorin Grindeanu's statement on Monday, according to which Ilie Bolojan would be “a political zombie”, Ciucu commented: “Ilie Bolojan enjoys enough trust from the Romanians. A political zombie is one with a single-digit trust rating”.
The liberal called for “a long-term and very long-term separation” of the PNL from the PSD as a solution to heal the political system, given that the alliances between the two parties in previous years gave way to the rise of the AUR.
On the other hand, Ciprian Ciucu did not rule out the possibility of the desertion of some liberals from the PNL position regarding the exclusion of any collaboration with the social democrats.
“Always when you are in power and you go to the opposition there are people who want to stay (…) I saw that some did not explicitly say who created this crisis, as I am doing tonight”, commented the liberal, referring to some party colleagues whom he did not nominate.
