Will there be money for services under SAFE? The Minister of Defense presented the project

— This guarantees us that we will gain an umbrella of safety – Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said on Friday, explaining the decision to change the SAFE program.
The Minister of Defense explained that expanding the catalog of possibilities for the non-military defense preparation program to include needs police, Border Guard, State Protection Service and the Ministry of Infrastructure will be implemented by amending the regulation. It is scheduled to be ready on Friday, May 22.
— We will start this next year and in the coming years, the Ministry of National Defense will co-finance the activities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Infrastructure from its budget for defense and non-military preparations of the Polish state, he announced.

Minister of Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwiński stated that the money will be used, among others, for: to provide officers with the necessary equipment.
— Anti-drone systems will be developed, cooperating very closely with the systems planned by the army and Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. We will buy helicopters for the Border Guard, we will further strengthen our external borders, so this money is extremely important, he said.

In the opinion of the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, by finding a way to allocate money also to the services subordinate to his ministry, the ministers “show that they will act together.” Marcin Kierwiński announced that the government is implementing the “largest ever” service modernization program.
— Almost PLN 13 billion, record money. There has never been so much money, but SAFE is a complement to this program, it is the second pillar of the internal security building program – said the minister.

The government's plenipotentiary for the EU SAFE loan, Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka, said on Friday that “providing funds for the police, Border Guard, State Protection Service and infrastructure projects” despite President Karol Nawrocki's veto “was one of the most difficult tasks.”
— Today we are reversing what happened. The mechanism is simple: we are expanding the program of non-military defense preparations. If anyone doubts whether there will be any losses for the Polish army, I would like to say right away that no, she assured.

Karol Nawrocki vetoed the EU SAFE loan
On March 12, President Karol Nawrocki decided to veto the bill regarding the EU loan fund. He announced his decision in his evening address to the nation.
“The mechanism is a huge foreign loan taken out for 45 years in a foreign currency, the interest cost of which may amount to up to PLN 180 billion,” he criticized the program.
At the same time, President Karol Nawrocki and the head of the NBP, Adam Glapiński, presented a proposal for “Polish SAFE 0 percent”, which would be an alternative to the EU defense loan program.
