Cristi Chivu became the third coach in Inter's history to win the Coppa Italia and the Serie A title in the same season ♦ Moreover, he is the first technician to do this in his debut season on the bench of the Nerazzurri.
Cristi Chivu is in the history of Inter, at the end of the first season as coach of the Nerazzurri. The Romanian team won the final of the Italian Cup, score 2-0, against Lazio, 9 days after becoming champion in Serie A.
Cristi Chivu, the first coach in the history of Inter who succeeds in the event in his debut season
So, in his first season as a coach at Inter, he won the “double” championship-cup, becoming the first technician to achieve this in the Milan team.
Only two other coaches, huge names, made the event on Inter's bench, but not in the first season. The first was Roberto Mancini, who won the domestic 'double' in the 2005-2006 season, in his second season as A1 of the band on 'Giuseppe Meazza'.
The second was Jose Mourinho, in 2009-2010. Like Mancini, the Portuguese won the event in his second season on Inter's bench.
Cristi Chivu did the event in the first “full” season as a coach
Cristi Chivu achieved the event with Inter at the end of his first “full” season as coach. He made his senior debut last season, when he was named on Parma's bench. He saved the team from relegation, and in the summer he was called by Inter.
Chivu accepted the offer of the team of his soul and returned to Milan, after writing history as a player, achieving the treble in 2010. And in his first season as a technician, he managed to permanently engrave his name on the wall of Inter's legends.
Inter won two trophies, we deserved them. We had a good season and I'm happy for these fans and for our club that has always supported us all. We are also happy for this cup, because it was not expected. It was not at all easy to finish a season with two trophies won
