Teenager suspected of preparing a terrorist attack in Germany. The targets he was targeting

A 17-year-old Syrian has been arrested in Hamburg on suspicion of planning an attack possibly inspired by the Islamic State group, German prosecutors announced Monday, according to AFP.
According to prosecutors, the young man is suspected of wanting to kill “infidels” in a shopping center, bar or police station, using explosives, Molotov cocktails or a knife.
Authorities searched a property used by the suspect, where they found fertilizer, flammable barbecue liquid, a balaclava and a knife.
The teenager was arrested on May 7 by a specialized police unit in Hamburg, prosecutors said.
They say information provided by German secret services and the federal police was “crucial” to the investigation.
Prosecutors have ordered a psychiatric evaluation of the suspect, and investigations are ongoing.
The 17-year-old Syrian is also suspected of “financing terrorism”, but the form of the alleged financing is not yet clear.
Germany has been on high alert in recent years amid deadly attacks in the country, some motivated by extremist ideology and others by people found to have psychological problems.
