Barcelona beat Real Madrid to take the title in Spain. Coach Hansi Flick lost his father

FC Barcelona won El Clasico, 2-0 with Real Madrid, and a new title of champion of Spain. The Catalan outfit won their 29th Spanish football title after beating rivals Real Madrid 2-0 at the Camp Nou on Sunday night in the 35th leg of the season.

Barça dominated El Clasico without emotion and prevailed with the goals scored by Marcus Rashford (9), from a free kick, and Ferran Torres (18), after a ball placed by Dani Olmo.
With three stages before the final, the Catalans are 14 points ahead of Madrid and have won their second consecutive title.
Barça are celebrating their second title under Hansi Flick, their third in four years. Madrid despairs, sinking further into its self-destructive spiral of chaos, anarchy and depression. Only once before, on April 3, 1932, had a La Liga title been decided by a Clásico: Madrid emerged victorious after drawing with Barcelona.
Yesterday's game ended 2-0 for the Catalans, who, with three games left to play, extend their lead to 14 points over their rivals (who, along with Xabi Alonso, had a five-point lead after October's Clásico). They are still chasing the 100-point mark, achieved in 2012 by Mourinho's Real and in 2013 by Barça led by the late Vilanova. Barça have won 18 of their 18 home matches.
Coach Hansi Flick was heartbroken, devastated on the morning of the match by the death of his father. It is the 14th Scudetto for the 37-year-old Lewandowski, who has won the championship in Poland, Germany and Spain. The striker was on the bench yesterday and is most likely going to Italy.
It is the third League for 18-year-old Lamine Yamal, who has been in the stands and is undergoing treatment for a muscle tear ahead of the World Cup. It is the first title for Joan García, the goalkeeper plucked from Espanyol and the only signing of the 2025 transfer window for a Barça still affected by the financial crisis and hampered by financial fair play in La Liga.
It's a triumph for Spain: nine of Flick's starters were eligible to be selected by Luis De la Fuente yesterday. And Lamine was missing. It is another triumph for the youth academy: eight of the top eleven players with the most minutes played in this league grew up at La Masía. It is the League season of Joan Laporta, recently re-elected president for the fourth time, the second since his return in 2021.
