Dutton Ranch coming soon: A beloved couple from the TV series Yellowstone appears in a long-awaited spin-off

Beloved Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly return to star in Dutton Ranch, the new series set behind the Yellowstone universe. The couple of the spin-off, which premieres this month on SkyShowtime, talked about what we should expect in an interview with People magazine.

The nine-episode Dutton Ranch follows Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) as they try to build a future together on their Texas ranch.

The first two episodes will be available on SkyShowtime from May 22, with the rest appearing weekly. They appear earlier on Paramount Plus, on May 15, but the platform is not available in Romania.

SkyShowtime also recently unveiled a new trailer for Dutton Ranch.

What Beth and Rip say about the family's new challenges

Kelly Reilly, 48, and Cole Hauser, 51, are approaching a decade as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, who were first introduced at the beginning of Yellowstone in 2018 and are now about to launch their own spin-off, Dutton Ranch.

Beth, daughter of John Dutton (Kevin Costner), and Rip, John's confidant, have been in an unforgettable, passionate and tumultuous relationship since the beginning of the series, and they got married in the finale of season 4. Both characters are fiercely loyal to the few people they trust – and are not afraid to use a little violence to protect them.

In real life, actors are much friendlier. It's clear how well they get along, completing each other's sentences as they talk about their reunion, the first since filming wrapped in early March, notes People magazine.

“Beth and Rip have always been natural fighters, and now they're hoping they won't have to fight anymore,” says Reilly.

“They will always defend each other. For five seasons, they defended a place and a dream of John Dutton. Now that cycle, that burden is over. It's over. So who are they now, together?” the actress added.

Moving to a new state and a new landscape will mean new challenges for the family. In Montana “they were the strongest,” says Reilly. “Now they are strangers.”

“For these characters, it's like going to the moon,” added Hauser, noting that Rip will face a significant language barrier, as all of his employees speak Spanish.

“I don't know the country, the people, the environment,” added the actor.

Among the foreign locals are Beth and Rip's new neighbors, a gray-haired vet and Marine veteran who befriends Beth (played by Ed Harris), as well as the boss of the big farm in town (Annette Bening).

“We needed some big names with us to tell a new story,” Reilly says of Harris and Bening.

Reilly and Hauser didn't have much of a break between filming Yellowstone and their new spin-off.

“The last season in Yellowstone was very emotional. We finished shooting in, I think, September of 2024, then we started shooting again in June or July of 2025, and we were talking about it the whole time. So it didn't feel like a big break… The train was going and we had to be on it,” recalls Reilly.
