The Golden Tenement House in Gdańsk is for sale for the third time. The price is getting lower
After a mysterious bidder appeared last year, eager to purchase the Golden Tenement House, who exceeded the asking price three times and resigned, the facility is still waiting for a new owner. According to “Gazeta Wyborcza”, in the first tender the starting price was PLN 22 million, in the next one it dropped to PLN 19.6 million, and currently it is approximately PLN 17.9 million. Offers can be submitted until July 24, 2026.

There are no people willing to buy the Golden Tenement House
Golden Tenement House, located at ul. Długa near the Neptune Fountain in Gdańsk, attracts attention with its façade. Its attic is crowned with four stone figures, representing the cardinal virtues: Prudence, Justice, Fortitude and Temperance. It is one of the most beautiful and attractively located tenement houses in the city, built in the 17th century and rebuilt after 1945. It has 1,345 square meters of usable area and consists of four floors.

The building currently belongs to the Maritime University, which would like to use its sale to cover growing expenses related to, among others, with the move to the new headquarters.
As Zuzanna Szwedek-Kwiecińska, spokeswoman for the Municipal Office in Gdynia, explained to “Gazeta Wyborcza”, the university took into account that selling the tenement house would not be easy because it is a “real estate of a specific nature”.
Last year, one interested party came forward to buy the tenement house, but the Maritime University did not reveal the identity of the bidder, who ultimately withdrew from the purchase after exceeding the asking price three times. Apart from this person, so far there has been no one interested in purchasing the historic building in Gdańsk.
Now, according to information from “Wyborcza”, the city of Gdańsk is interested in purchasing the tenement house. The municipality has a guaranteed right of pre-emption of the building.
