“Well, we don't screw up because you want us to!”

Almost 24 hours after the protest initiated by the 16 clubs in the first echelon, led by Dani Coman, FRF announced that the new 2026-2027 season will start according to the already approved calendar, that is, on July 10.

The decision of the forum led by Răzvan Burleanu came after the Super League teams officially requested to postpone the start of the competition by a week, citing that the players do not have enough time to recover after the recently ended season and after the actions of the national teams.

MM Stoica, firm reaction after FRF response

The official of the champion commented on the situation in a sharp tone, stressing that the problem cannot be changed anymore and criticizing the way in which the competitive calendar was established.

“The FRF should not have issued a statement, we know that. This is like: “well, we don't screw up because you want us to!”. The problem is this: yes, sir, it's a mistake, but what do we do now? We can't fix a mistake. Did the Federation make a schedule? On the 6th, the national team plays its last match.

We made our schedule knowing that we would start on the 11th-12th and toured abroad from the 19th (no June) to the 2nd of July. It's not quite two weeks. The players who will go to the national team, regardless of whether we play in the play-off final or not, will play on June 6 in the national team, that's the problem.”

I repeat, we asked to play from 11-19, that was our point of view, but now this is it. I was talking to Gică Hagi just now and I even asked him what he advises me about the national team players. He said at least two weeks breaknot to think about anything else, especially after a season like this one as it was with us. But, please, the Federation has gotten used to us,” Mihai Stoica said on the “Fotbal Show” show on Prima Sport 1.

“As a result of the information appearing in the media, the FRF administration specifies: In the last meeting of the Executive Committee, on April 16, 2026, the competitive calendar of the Superleague was approved in the form in which it was presented by Mr. Gino Iorgulescu. We mention that the president of the Professional Football League specified in the plenary meeting that the proposal comes as a result of consultation with the Superleague clubs.
