The net loss of PLN 5.1 billion (compared to PLN 1.1 billion a year earlier) is impressive, but another indicator draws attention – the EBITDA result. There was a rebound here: the group achieved positive results PLN 322.7 millionstarting from the negative level recorded in the previous year.
The agricultural segment carries the group
Agriculture remains the main driving force of Azoty. The Agro segment strengthened its position, accounting for 68%. all group revenues (up from 60.5%). Revenues in this area increased by over 13%, reaching PLN 8.93 billion.
Still, the picture for the entire group remains uncertain. All key segments – from fertilizers, through plastics and chemicals, to energy – recorded a negative EBIT result. The Plastics segment suffered the most, with revenues shrinking by nearly 40%. year to year.
However, the president of Grupa Azoty, Marcin Celejewski, is trying to tone down the mood. “The year 2025 was a time of intense challenges for Grupa Azoty, but also groundbreaking results. A clear improvement in profitability and positive operating results in our key Agro Segment confirm that the foundations of our business remain stable.“, he said in the statement.
The transaction with Orlen is a saving grace for finances
The most important event for the company's future is the agreement with the concern from Płock. At the beginning of April, Orlen concluded a preliminary agreement under which it will take over Grupa Azoty Polyolefins (GAP). Orlen will also provide financing worth PLN 1.35 billion.
“This strategic action not only allows for partial debt reduction, but above all secures jobs and guarantees the business continuity of the project“- emphasizes Celejewski.
The president also added that the priority remains to finalize talks with banks, which will ultimately stabilize the group's financial position in the coming years.
Grupa Azoty is the second producer of nitrogen and compound fertilizers in the European Union and the only producer of melamine in Poland. The company's portfolio also includes polyamide, OXO alcohols and titanium white. The current restructuring activities and sale of polymer assets are expected to allow the company to focus on its core business and return to sustainable profitability in the coming years.
