The women's volleyball team from Alba Blaj lost the third match of the national final, away from CSO Voluntari, score 0-3 (20-25, 23-25, 21-25), but blames the organizational conditions. The Ardennes claim problems on the playing surface and demand to win the game at the “green table”.

The final of the National Championship started in Blaj, where in the first two matches the two finalists shared their victories. After 1-1 overall, the series moved earlier this week to Voluntari, where the hosts took the lead, 2-1, after a clear success in minimum sets.

At the end of the game, without taking away from the merits of the opponent, Alba Blaj issued an extensive statement, in which he accuses that the match was played “on a playing surface that does not comply with the regulatory conditions”. Those from Blaj claim that they reported the problems even before the confrontation, but the organizers did not fix the situation.

Alba Blaj volleyball wants to win the match 3-0 on the “green table”

In this context, the Transylvanians hope to win their case and insist that the problems be fixed before the 4th match of the final.

“Following match 3 of the championship final, played today in the “Gabriela Szabo” Hall in Voluntari, our club wishes to make the following clarifications: CSM Volei Alba Blaj recognizes the victory of the CSO Voluntari team, but signals the fact that the game was played on a playing surface that does not comply with the regulatory conditions. This aspect was officially notified even before the start of the match.

Before the game, the executive director of our club informed the referee brigade and the match observer that, on the playing surface, at a height of approximately 3 meters, there were two basketball hoops, although the Official Rules of the Game of Volleyball (applicable to competitions organized by the Romanian Volleyball Federation and the FIVB) provide for a free space of at least 7 meters (Article 55, paragraph 1). Their removal was requested, but the request was not resolved.

Out of respect for the public, the viewers and for the conduct of the competition, our team accepted the match. The club will submit an official appeal within the regulatory deadline, through which it will request the application of the regulatory provisions, namely the loss of the game, 0-3, by the host team.

CSM Volei Alba Blaj has prepared a full report that will be submitted to the Romanian Volleyball Federation, in which it requests the urgent remedy of the situation before match 4 of the final.

We hope that match 4 will be played in regulation conditions. If the reported irregularities are not fixed, our club will submit a new appeal, on the model of the one after match 3. Our team respects the competition and cannot afford not to show up for an official match.

We believe that a championship final, in which the best teams from Romania meet, must be a celebration of volleyball and take place under fair, equitable and legal conditions”, said the representatives of Volei Alba Blaj.

Next, the girls from Alba Blaj are obliged to win the 4th match of the final to restore the overall tie and send the series to the decider, on home ground.
