Two finals for gold and two for bronze will be contested by female fighters from Romania at the European Championships

Andreea Ana (25 years old) and Alexandra Anghel (28 years old) qualified for the gold final on Wednesday at the European Championships in Tirana (Albania), while Alina Vuc Grigore (32 years old) and Kateryna Zelenykh (25 years old) will fight for bronze. All finals take place on Thursday.

UPDATE. 20:47. Andreea Ana and Alexandra Anghel prevailed in the semifinals and will fight for gold at the European Championships on Thursday, while Alina Vuc Grigore and Kateryna Zelenykh were defeated in the penultimate act and will try to win the bronze.

In the 55 kg category, Andreea Ana passed through the technical superiority of Mihaela Samoil and will meet Liliia Malanchuk (Ukraine). Alexandra Anghel defeated Enrica Rinaldi (Italy) 3-1 in the 76 kg category and will meet Anastasia Alpyeva (Ukraine) in the grand final.

Alina Vuc Grigore (50 kg) was defeated by Evin Demirhan (Turkey) 6-0, and Kateryna Zelenykh (68 kg) by Alina Shauchuk. They will meet athletes coming from requalifications.

Romanian women's wrestling has an extraordinary day at the European Championships in Tirana (Albania), where our country participates with 14 athletes.

All four athletes who entered the competition on Wednesday qualified for the semifinals: Alina Vuc Grigore (50 kg), Andreea Ana (55 kg), Kateryna Zelenykh (68 kg) and Alexandra Anghel (76 kg).

Alina Vuc Grigore, world and European vice-champion, advanced to the quarter-finals in the 50 kg category against Emanuela Liuzzi (Italy), score 19-9, and will duel in the semi-finals with Evin Demirhan (Turkey).

Andreea Ana, three-time European champion, beat Anastasia Blayvas (Germany) 8-2 in the quarter-finals of the 55 kg category, and in the semifinals she will meet Mihaela Samoil (Rep. Moldova).

World and European runner-up Kateryna Zelenykh also qualified for the semi-finals in the 68 kg category, after defeating Manola Skobelska (Ukraine) 5-2. Further, she will meet Alina Shauchuk, a repeat of last year's European final, which the Romanian representative lost.

Alexandra Anghel, European champion, decisively defeated Kendra Jocelyne Dacher (France), by touch – 11-1, in the 76 kg category, and will fight in the semi-finals against the Italian Enrica Rinaldi.

All semi-finals take place on Wednesday, starting at 17:45, with the winners advancing to the final for gold and the losers going to the final for bronze, where they will meet athletes from the requalifications.

Also on Wednesday, from 19:00, Mihai Denis will be present in the bronze final of the 60 kg category, Greco-Roman wrestling.

Romania is participating in the European Championships in Tirana with 14 athletes: seven in women's, four in freestyle wrestling and three in Greco-Roman.

At the 2025 edition, the Romanian delegation won three medals, all for women, two silver and one bronze. The last gold medal dates from 2024, from the edition hosted by Bucharest, it was won by Andreea Ana in the 55 kg category.
