At the age of 40, Luka Modric is preparing to take part in his fifth World Cup. He debuted on this stage in 2006, and in June he will lead the Croatian team for the last time in the most important football competition.
Despite his age, the Croatian midfielder remains at a very good level. His developments in his debut season at AC Milan were appreciated and helped the “Rossonero Devil” secure their presence in the next edition of the Champions League.
With the season coming to an end, Modric is starting to turn his attention to the big event of the year, the World Championship. It will be his fifth appearance, a milestone that not many footballers can boast of.
Present at Salone del Mobile Milano as ambassador of the Gorenje brandModric prefaced what will be his last worldwide dance.
Luka Modric, ahead of his fifth World Cup: “Fighting spirit represents Croatia”
“I'm looking forward to playing another World Cup with Croatia. It will be amazing.
Yes, we are happy to be there. We have to prepare well, as always, and hopefully we can make our country proud and happy with what we achieve there.
We will give it our all, as always. And at the end, we will see what result we will get or how far we can go.
But what Croatia always stands for is fighting spirit, unity, and I'm sure we'll prove it again. And hopefully we can, as I said, make the country proud with the way we play and the way we fight,” the checkered team captain relayed.
Luka Modric: “It has always been my dream to play for AC Milan”
Challenged at the Gorenje stand to name his favorite aspect of life in Milan, Modric was amused:
“There are many things I like in Milan. Seriously, I've adapted well, I enjoy every day here. I would say the food, but if I'm not allowed (no – laughs)…
Above all, to play for AC Milan. It has always been my dream; when I was a kid, I never imagined it would happen. Well, another goal of mine was to end my career at Real Madrid; it didn't happen, but I'm very happy to have arrived at this historic club and we're doing well as a team.”
