Three months of fully paid regenerative leave after seven years of work – this is one of the proposals of the Trade Union Alternative for social welfare workers. The union also demands broader changes in pay and promotion rules.

Three months, fully paid recovery leave after seven years of service, at least 30%. an increase in wages, a higher field allowance and a general incentive allowance – such changes for social welfare workers are demanded by the Trade Union Alternative. In a letter addressed to the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy, the union argues that the ministry's current proposals do not solve the most important problems of the industry, and low level of wages discourages people from working and deepens staff shortages.
Social welfare workers are also overworked and burnt out. That's why we propose introducing three months of regenerative leave every seven years of service. A significant number of people working in aid have combined their entire career with their profession. For many of them, social welfare is a passion and a life mission, but without the possibility of regeneration, they often get sick, burn out and leave the profession. Regenerative leave would allow them to work with full commitment until retirement,” we read in the union's announcement.
The Trade Union Alternative also draws attention to the chaos in the career advancement system. In the opinion of the authors of the magazine social welfare workers still do not have a clear and motivating development pathand the differences between positions are blurring. Therefore, the union proposes the introduction of rigid percentage increases in basic salary with each promotion, from 10 to 25 percent. and clearly specifying the required length of service for individual grades. Additionally, it proposes a mechanism that would allow you to retain a professional degree once obtained after changing your place of employment.
The demands of the Trade Union Alternative refer to the proposed draft act amending the Social Assistance Act and certain other acts. The project is currently at the public consultation stage.
