Children's international holiday will appear in Krasnoyarsk

April 14 10:02

Sergei Vereshchagin proposed holding an international children's holiday in Krasnoyarsk. In his opinion, the city should become a place where such events unite residents and teach them to respect each other.

The initiative was discussed during a meeting of the Public Council on National Issues.

“I propose to consider the possibility of organizing such an event. This will be a holiday for little citizens of a big country. Children in bright costumes, with national treats, traditional songs and dances will show how different we all are and how great it is that we are together. It will turn out to be a beautiful, kind story about patriotism and true unity of Siberians. We decide on a date and invite citizens to participate,” the mayor said.

Representatives of diasporas and cultural autonomies supported the mayor’s idea.

“Correct proposal! Children remember a language best before the age of five, so the earlier we involve children in such activities, the better. This allows them not to break away from their roots, and at the same time learn the culture of the country in which they live,” said Vagiz Faizullin, chairman of the regional Tatar national-cultural autonomy.

The administration said that representatives of 130 nationalities live in the regional center, each with its own cultural and linguistic characteristics and traditions. More than 200 events are planned in Krasnoyarsk during the Year of the Unity of the Peoples of Russia: quizzes, sports competitions, creative competitions, educational projects and festivals.
