The police intervened at dawn on April 12, around 04:00, after the woman from Glogova town (Gorj county) called for help from the authorities, saying that she was being assaulted by her son.

The 67-year-old victim told the police that his son violently attacked her and threw hot lard on her. Following the intervention, both the woman and the aggressor were taken to the headquarters of the Motru Municipality Police for questioning.

Law enforcement officers issued a temporary protection order and offered the victim the installation of an electronic surveillance system, but she refused the measure.

“In continuation of the investigations carried out in the criminal file registered at the Motru Municipality Police, the preventive measure of detention for 24 hours was ordered against the 39-year-old man, being placed in the Detention and Preventive Arrest Center of the Gorj County Police Inspectorate”, the IPJ Gorj representatives sent.
